The IMTA National Finals of the Pi Quiz and Team Maths took place in Portlaoise on Saturday, March 29th. A total of 81 teams from all corners of the country took part, following a series of regional heats. The event was a true celebration of problem-solving, teamwork, and mathematical excellence.
Pi Quiz Results
The Pi Quiz, for Junior Cycle Higher Level students, was won by St. Benildus College with a strong score of 18/20.
2nd and 3rd place were determined after an exciting four-way tiebreak involving Castleknock College, Coláiste Choilm (Swords), Castleknock Community College, and Midleton College. After a tense playoff round:
2nd place went to Castleknock College
3rd place was awarded to Coláiste Choilm, Swords
Team Maths Results
In the Team Maths competition, both The Institute of Education and Oatlands College finished on 16/20, forcing a tie-break. The Institute rose to the challenge, scoring a perfect 10/10 to clinch 1st place.
Sutton Park School secured a well-earned 3rd place.
The atmosphere on the day was electric, and an enjoyable time was had by all. Huge thanks to the many teachers, IMTA Council members, and volunteers who gave so freely of their time to help run the event so smoothly.
